Florida health care worker arrested after allegedly fathering child with woman with disabilities: Police

A caretaker at a Florida facility for people with disabilities was arrested on Wednesday, accused of impregnating a resident who has the mental capacity of a small child, authorities said.Willie Shorter, an employee at the Bridges assisted-living facility in central Florida, was arrested and charged with lewd and lascivious battery on a disabled person, according to a charging affidavit.

Shorter, 58, allegedly impregnated a patient in his care who gave birth to a baby boy. The baby was born in May 2015 and adopted by the woman’s family, according to the facility, which is located in Rockledge, Florida, about 50 miles southeast of Orlando.
